Designing for AI: Beyond the Chat Box
Agentic experience design is about the whole journey, not the conversation widget that happens to sit in it.

Most team found a chatbot feel like a detour: a widget that sits on the page but is rarely the fastest way to get something done. The reason is that the experience was designed around the model, not around the task.
Design the outcome, then add the AI
Before choosing an interface, define the outcome a visitor wants: rebook a session, get a quote, check a status. For each outcome, ask whether chat is actually the fastest path, or whether a guided form, a dashboard or a short automation serves it better.
Make the agent's work visible
Trust comes from transparency. When the system books the slot, changes a record or sends the follow-up, show that it happened and make it easy to correct. Hidden work creates anxiety; visible work creates confidence.

Book a Strategy Call- Show what the agent understood before it acts
- Provide a confirm or undo path for every action
- Escalate to a human with full context when confidence drops
Treat failures as design material
Every misunderstanding is data. Deploy instrumentation that captures where users abandon the experience, and turn those patterns into sharper system prompts, fewer steps or a faster human handoff.
The strongest AI experiences are the ones where the agent disappears into the flow and the work simply gets done.
